Of Hotel Benther Berg

Explore our history

Already in 1899, Friedrich Bode had the inn "Benther Berg Garten" built, thus laying the foundation for today's Hotel Benther Berg.

In 1914, Bode leased the inn to Rudolf Tiemann.

The house is renamed "Tiemanns Hotel" and in a short time gains a good reputation in Hanover and the surrounding villages.
With the beginning of the First World War, the successful operation of the hotel is interrupted.

With the end of the First World War, Bode continues the work at Benther Berg. At the beginning of the 1930s, the hotel is modernized and is renamed "Friedrichs Ruh".

Since the heirs of Friedrich Bode have no interest in continuing the business, Bode decides to sell the modernized inn to Reinhard Aggen.

Reinhard Aggen transfers it to his mother-in-law Sophie Müller, who runs the hotel until the beginning of the Second World War.

In 1954, Karla Aggen-Führer, Sophie Müller's daughter, opens the inn under the name "Gasthaus Benther Berg" and gradually expands it into a hotel.

At the age of 28, the son Hinderk Aggen takes over the house in 1969 and has it modernized in line with the times under the name "Hotel Benther Berg".

The rapidly growing popularity of the hotel leads to the Brazilian national soccer team choosing the hotel as their accommodation during the 1974 World Cup in Germany. The reigning world champions with world star Pele are guests at the Hotel Benther Berg, in the small village of Benthe. A story that spreads over Germany.

Due to the national attention, the number of guests of the hotel, which has become a well-known place for business travelers and conferences, increases.
Hinderk Aggen therefore decides to expand the house with a new building in 1982.

Around the turn of the millennium, the hotel becomes a focal point for celebrities from sports, politics and entertainment.

In 2014, son Reinders Aggen joins the management of the hotel.
